Iliff was born 6 Oct. 1845 in Harrison, Ohio. He graduated from Athens University and became a minister in the Ohio conference for the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was transferred to Helena, Montana, and then later to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he was superintendent of Methodist Missions in Utah. He died 22 Feb. 1918 in Colorado.
